Ms is not at all capable of making a good os
XP is quite nice and MS is far better at it than SONY. They are also arguably the best company making development tools for graphic programming. (Is there someone programming games not using Visual Studio?)
So they have some clear advantages.
On the other hand the hardware sucked and they have no style.
