Hello Games' "No Man's Sky" seems like a distant miracle at times, but one Sony employee recently teased some firsthand time with a polished build of the PS4 game. He said the gameplay was worthy of a "woah" and even made mention to the title's elusive release date.
The news comes to Design & Trend via Sony strategic content employee Shahid Kamal Ahmad. While his references to "No Man's Sky" were cursory at best, they confirm that the expansive space exploration title is still being actively worked on.
The teases started to spill yesterday afternoon when Ahmad cryptically tweeted the game's title. He followed up the name drop by saying "whenever I think of 'No Man's Sky,' whenever I see it, whenever I hear about it, one word comes to mind every time: WOAH!" Before heading to bed, the Sony representative also said he was going to "dream of worlds that no eyes will see but mine." In case his followers thought he'd changed the subject, he added #NoMansSky to the end of the message.
All things considered, these tweets don't necessarily confirm that Ahmad has spent personal gameplay time with an unfinished build of the experience. To meet those requirements, heteased replies by saying "if only you could see what these eyes have seen." The statement suggests that his position as a Sony employee has allowed him to see demos or gameplay that has not been revealed to the public.
One of the most pressing questions about this highly anticipated PS4 exclusive is an approximation of its release date. Shahid wasn't willing to spill any beans on that front, but he did imply that he knows something about it. When directly confronted with matters of release,he replied "you know full well I will not answer that."
It's important to note that he didn't say he couldn't answer and instead chose to say he wouldn't. It could be a simple foible of semantics, but there's possibly an estimate of arrival that this Sony employee seems to have some insider knowledge of.
Sean Murray and his team at Hello Games have gone dark with "No Man's Sky" updates since a new trailer debuted at the PlayStation Experience expo in December of last year. Aside fromquick chats with Zelda Williams and a few aging gameplay reports, fresh leads remain scant on this free-form exploration epic.
"No Man's Sky" is scheduled for a release date in 2015 with timed exclusivity on PS4. A PC build will follow shortly thereafter.
What excites you most about "No Man's Sky's" gameplay prospects? Are they worthy of a "woah?" When would you like the release date to be? Let us know in the comments section!
