Id be careful in having a feeling of expectation that a price cut will occur this year; one might develop a feeling of entitlement and be disappointing later on because it didn't happen. Just because Sony did a price cut on the ps2 (-$100) two year after it released does not equate that it will happen again.
Edited: The PS3 got a price-cut a year after release like the PS1, while the PS2 got it two years after. My mistake, on this. I neglected the first 2007 price reduction of the PS3 7 months after it's launch. (Those were desperate times for Sony.)
