Where did I say they are making the controllers themselves? They are working WITH Interworks to make these controllers for them. They only manufacture the console shells and the cartridge shells.

You are now pulling false information out of thin air to back up your shakey stance.

interworks do not own the molds, they commissioned them from the factory that supplies the part, they have a lease agreement with the factory that allows them to sell the controller with their branding for a fixed period, once that periods over they must either extend the lease or the manufacturer can use the mold for their own products, mold leasing does not permit the leasing company to created modified versions or alternative branded versions of the same hardware, and Interworks don&t actually have the technology to modify the created parts.

Even if these guys went direct to the shenzhen supplier, they couldnt get modified versions of that controller, or the same versions, because the design is currently leased.

i'll put it as simply as possible.

Until the lease ends, the only controllers they can sell are the ones they currently sell, branded what they are currently branded.

Modifying te design would require a rework of the pcb and molds, something neither interworks or the factory are going to invest in for a kickstarter project.
