I dunno what would have happened if Sony didn't join in the video game market but am I the only one who thinks that Sony, in some way or form would have entered the market regardless if they made the original playstation or not.

Remember, Nintendo originally commissioned Sony to make them a CD based add-on or something to compete with the SEGA CD. Both got stupidly evil so the deal crashed and burned...

But irregardless, remember that Sony had wanted to enter that market plus they had another agenda, pushing the CD format.

Be it the PSone, an add on to the SNES or in cooperation with some other company, Sony would have entered the console market no matter what and its all because of wanting to push CD.

The same goes for the PS2, Sony made the PS2 to push the DVD format. The PS2 sold gang busters even though it was stupidly weak compared to the Xbox and the Cube because of lots and lots and LOTS of games that it got. heck there's even one where you're a mosquito.. Mr. Mosquito I believe... all that variety translated to shyet load of games. now, why did it have a shyet load of games?

I dunnot, i'm guessing that who ever was in charge of approving licenses or games for the PS2 was approve happy and stamped every single game that wanted in as "Approved ok for development"... or something like that... how else would you explain mr mosquito and all the other crazy nasty games out there.
