As you remember Destiny had a lot more stuff attached to PS4 than we can expect BF to have. People are not stupid as some here seems to belive. PS: http://www.xbox.com/ has an HUGE banner of Battlefront in their home page. |
To be fair, that does equate to the occasional highly amusing claim I see from the Xbox side, i.e. the idea that the Xbox One will inevitably win the U.S. literally on the back of Halo alone. xP Overhyping happens, but so does underhyping, such as the equally amusing counter-claims that Halo will do zilch, whereas in truth, Halo will likely give the platform a solid boost, but not 'carry it to overall sales victory' or some silly thing like that, especially since the Xbox is probably going to keep losing ground in the U.S. all the way until Halo launches. (Barring surprise game releases or additional price cuts, of course.) Depending on how April through September go, they might end 2015 with an even bigger gap than they ended 2014, but obviously we'll have to wait and see.
As I said before, I don't think that advertising alone, if Sony even has it, will have a large boost. I don't believe that Destiny would have given them a large boost if they ONLY had the advertising rights on it. But if Sony is in a position to take advantage, and if they play their cards right, I do think that a partnership with EA (which, funny enough, seem to be REALLY rare this generation, between EA taking Microsoft's side early on and Sony's countering by denying EA Access their platforms) on the game has the potential to translate into a significant sales boost, certainly one well worth making the deal. ^_^ It's all about strategy and approach, really. Just look at Microsoft's constant use of Call of Duty; exclusive advertising, timed exclusivity on DLC, often with bundles to boot, makes the Xbox platform the typical go-to CoD platform.
