PS3 will be lucky to get to 50 million. Lets be realistic here, the console is doing nothing in Japan. It sold 8k last week for God's sake! And it's not gonna make it past 6 million in Japan, and thats if it's lucky. Without Japanese sales, it would need to sell an average of 22 million in NA and Others (very liberally assuming 6 million sold in Japan). It's not a market leader, and support is dictated by consumer demand, not the desires of Sony, so it's not gonna last 10 years.

I just don't see how any one could possibly think that PS3 could reach 100 million when it is performing abysmally in Japan, okay in NA, and good (but not market leader great) in Others. .

Hmm it will sell 6 million for sure in Japan I will be surprised if it can't.

It still has huge games on the way that will increase sales.

Does it? For Japan it has FFXIII. GT5 as well, but that's not as big as in EU or NA. Same for MGS4. They need more Japanese-centric games, but those ALWAYS go to the winner, who is quite obviously the Wii in Japan. I just cannot see a console that's pulling 8k a week in Japan suddenly picking up steam. It goes against historical data in Japan. Whereas a comeback seems to be possible elsewhere, it seems that in Japan, once the ball starts rolling for one, everyone else is fucked. One could argue the PSP did reverse it's fortunes, but it has far more games that appeal to the Japanese (a prominent example being Monster Hunter, which switched to Wii), as well portables being more dominant in relation to home consoles.

FF, GT are system sellers in Japan an there are more games that will push hardware sales.  And about PSP....So many Japan centric games?  The most are niche games over there except Monster Hunter.
