The only way to have this discussion in a rational manner is for people to take the platforms out of the equation, otherwise it's like going into a mountain biking forum and answering an impression about a high end hydrolic disc break system "I don't care that my breaks are not hydrolic because my bike has a great handles" which makes no sense because the best handles in the world don't serve the same purpose as the breaks do.
Point is, there is no serious discussion to be had on this topic, everything being equesl 1080p is better than 900p... some people claim they don't see it or care about it... fine, but a lot of people do, or simply want to be sure they have "the best possible image on a console".
So, the reality is, so far the PS4 has delivered on its promise performance wise (very few games are below 1080p and few are below the acceptable treshold of 30fps no matter the resolution!... XB1 is a completely different story. This is pretty simple, there should not be much to talk about.
