Because putting out a Slim PLUS a $100 cut is playing too many cards and too soon. To keep momentum constant, the best thing to do this year would be to cut to $299-$349. Then, late next year, release the PS4 Slim with another $50 cut. Then, the final big card to play in 2017 would be to drop to $199. Finally, in 2018 we may see another $50 cut, most likely the final one, possibly with a final Slim revision. It's also the same year we will probably hear about the PS5. |
I really dont see this gen lasting anywhere near what last gen did and sony MS and nintendo know that too. Especially MS, who seem likely to abandon the x1 and go pc. So I see no reason to hold back. If they can release it by E3, they will.
It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.
