Zekkyou said: I'm surprised by the lack of an X1 version though, SO4 sold well on the 360. Could be that it's just a PS3/PS4 exclusive in Japan. Pretending the X1 doesn't exist there makes sense :p |
I don't know why people still come with the "This and that did well on the 360"
Just go back and look closely at what happened back then
1) The 360 launched earlier and cheaper than the PS3 > 2) It was easier to develop for than the PS3 > 3) Microsoft had a lot of convincing power back then thanks to how Sony pumped out a 600$ console.
A lot of J-RPGs came Exclusive to the 360 without any word of those games being later on the PS3.
Of course these games did well for Xbox Standards - The 360 sold well over the whole world and Microsoft wanted to use their chance to enter Japan.
After their efforts failed J-RPGs nearly died out on the 360 and they went all to the PS3 and even the ports of these former X360 J-RPG Exclusives made more money on the PS3 than on the 360.
Now fast forward to this Gen
The X1 is chanceless - Its only doing good in 1 market and even there only with a heavy price advantage while it still gets beaten.
In every other market it is like the console never launched.
And something else
A few months ago it was reported Tri Ace will focus on Mobile game development.
It makes even more sense if Sony Japan is Co-Developing with them now IF TRUE - Star Ocean 5 is again a game from Sony for its community.
Its a game to expand the variety of genres in its library. They again tried to get something that isn't the next "Multiplayer pew pew revolution"
But please forget the PS360 days
Everything what happened back then is history. All the efforts for Japanese Games Microsoft did mostly faided away already in the later years in that Gen.
This Gen they are not even a contender for Sony.
