This year, Metal Gear Solid is looking really good to me.  Witcher III looks pretty good too, but i havent played the first or second one.  I own the 2nd one, just havent played it.  Is the story really important to the Witcher franchise?

Yep MGS looks amazing indeed, can't wait till it releases. The story is pretty damn good in the witcher 2 but as far as I know they don't really tie together necessarily. The first two are based on the books iirc and the witcher 3 takes place after the books. Honestly I think 1 choice I made in the witcher 1 had one very minor consequence when I played through the witcher 2. You could jump straight into TW3 without having played the first two i'd say, although I really recommend you play TW2 if the game looks interesting to you, it's an amazing game imo, one of my favourite games of all time.
