This is only a transitory list considering I plan to play most of these new IPs, but only have played so many.
1. Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor- Technically not a new IP, but as a stand alone game with a new character and new story it is the best, yet. The world is like a playground and there is a ton of mission variety. The orcs are constantly talking reminding you they are wicked and that they deserve to be destroyed. Keeping the player motivated to keep fighting. As the only big fault, I found that the world is a little small and plain by the 2nd half. The world feels kind of plain. It could use more variety. The game makes up for this fault by making the missions more complex and thus adding spice to an already spicy game!
2. Destiny- The game at launch was terrible as it lacked 3 -person team strikes. To me this is the meat of the game, where you fight cooperatively against an array of bosses to get better and better amour. The game is generally hard enough that people will happily work together to win. While the game falls short though on cooperative play on the main missions as these become easy and repetitive very quickly, whether you are playing with friends or alone. They can be fun, but often they are boring. Overall, due to co-op this new IP looks to have a promising future. If it can create a bigger world and have more boss variety the next game might be increadable.
3. The Evil Within- Not in the poll. A damn shame as this is a really cool, freaky, bloody, creepy, dark game that is very challenging. The game is very unique throughout giving the player missions that seem very stealthy, as well as vastly varying stealthy, action sections that are filled big, and ugly things to destroy. But, at all time the game is hard, and full of nightmare. It struggles with sections that just seem too damn cheap, but has more that are blast of adrenaline as you try to stay alive. Watching people play this game on twitch is amazing. They really get scared.
4. Watch Dogs- Watch Dogs does good at what has been done in many open world city games before. Chicago is a cool place to explore. Cars and motorcycles can be fun to drive, and having a fight with a local gang can be a jolly good time. There are many fun side mission where you do visual trips and play strange games in weird and colorful ways (jumping on flowers people across Chicago). Other side missions from chess puzzles and drinking games keep things interesting. Basically there is a ton of shit to do. The place the game fails is in new ideas, certain hacking games are boring and a pain to get through. The main character is not likable and the world seems paranoid and weird. Not a single side character is likable either, so you are stuck with a long game playing and interacting with characters you do not like. Ubisoft has a long ways to go to improve this if they want to make a better game in a new city.
