While it is true for Ryu (most popular)... Cody and Juri for example are way more popular than Ken/Akuma... I don't think Akuma is popular in SFIV btw.

Akuma's my favourite to use though I feel most players don't like to use him because he gets damaged alot more than others so its risky to use him.  

I've experienced these three characters all the time when playing SFIV.
