Xbox Live Down; Greyhat Hackers Claim Responsibility

It appears the Xbox live services are down once again. Users on reddit are complaining that servers are down in most of the countries.
Microsoft has updated their Xbox Live status page, indicating that most services are currently experiencing issues. This applies to both the Xbox One and Xbox 360. All services are now limited.

I found a solution. Let me preface this by saying the reason Xbox Live is down is because of script-kiddies, so this wont let you play online multiplayer but it will let you use twitch/netflix/etc. If you aren't signed in, go to Settings>Network and click the "Go Offline" button. This will let you play games offline. Sign in. Then go back to Settings>Network and click "Go Online". Now you are signed and like I said can watch Netflix/Twitch/Etc. EDIT: Apparently you cant watch netflix, youtube or amazon. But if your like me and like to watch twitch on your xbox this method would work.

If recent tweets from greyhat hackergroup TeamBudyBear are to be believed, they have rooted the main xbox live DNS using NTP floods via Layer 7 attacks. The group states that services will be back running 12:00 RTS
Apparently the hacker group is trying to make a statement by hacking Xbox Live:
Microsoft hasn’t confirmed whether Xbox Live has been hacked or not. We have contacted Microsoft to clarify whether they have been hacked. It wouldn’t be the first time Microsoft got hacked – last year notorious hacker group The Lizard Squad brought down both the Sony and Microsoft networks. |
