Nintendo definitely handled the western launch of xenoblade poorly.  For whatever reason, Nintendo doesn't think the west can handle rpg's on their system (see mother).  I think other games have proven there is a sizable market for rpg's here, but Nintendo doesn't see it...

Actually nintendo isn't the only one shortsided here about RPGs. I think they all underestimate what a good rpg advertised and pushed can do.
