The same reason so many people bitch about digital games. Because they are afraid of change, naysayers, or just plain haters.
My work team and I recently took a team outing to a full on fight immersion sim. The projector was clearly doing less than 1080p, but the experience was a ton of fun, and drastically better than playing on a pc or console.
MS is late to the game and trying to downplay it in order to save face. Its funny how Xbox apologists are trying to praise their dear leader for this PR move.
