How is there that much of a difference between what they claim and what you get? Why get an SSD then? My 8 year old 250 GB hard drive benchmarks 56 MB/s in Dxtory and the HDD that is dieing right now something like 110 MB/s, for example. What should I expect with this?

SSD get over 200MB/s for sure... just only situtaions it will get over 500MB/s but 200-300MB/s is in most of situations.

The post of the other guy is a mistake.

RANDOM WRITE

The only "bad" performance of SDDs are the RANDOM READ (every HDD have issues with random read)

I think I should be good with a 250 Gb 850 Evo according to those benchmarks. From what I gather the bitrate of uncompressed 1080p 60 fps video is somewhere around 350 MB/s, and I most of the time use a lagless codec to compress as I record, so it should be significantly less (although slighlty more taxing on my CPU.) Plus I can also record to both my SSD and my relatively slow HDD at the same time with Dxtory if I ever needed to. Gameplay recording is likely going to be the most HDD intensive task I will be doing. Although it would be nice if I had the extra money for a 500 GB, because it seems to me as if it is a significant improvement in both size and speed. Then again that money could also be used to buy more games/consoles. Lots to think about. Hm...
