Seems to be a difference in mentality and how value is established. I really hate pay walls and micro transactions, and would much rather pay $40 for a full experience than drip feed $1 twenty times for the same experience. May seem crazy as actually save money, but something about using game mechanics around influencing player to spend money cheapens it all for me.

That said, I am clearly in minority as mobile games in Japan has exploded and what was seen as a joke seven years ago is now the dominant force. I don't get it, but the evidence is overwhelming especially how profitable these games can be.
