"Sure, VR will be awesome for some games like FPS and racing games, but what about the other genres? How will it be to play a third person shooter, an adventure game, a RPG or a platformer with those headsets?"

who cares if not all game genre are suited  for it?

If it turns out its the best way to experiance a FPS, and the market takes off while MS is just twiddling its thumbs waiting on others to see how things turn out... its going to be behinde from the get go.

VR could be big, if such a wave was to hit the scene, you would want to be ontop of your game for it.

Well, I care. And I care because unlike the wiimotes, Move controllers or even Kinect, those VR helmets won't be cheap, and I can't see them used in so many genres as those controllers.

Even worse is the fact that in every demostration made so far of any of those devices, they have used wired units with the promise that they'll get a wireless version at launch. How? Is there a way to wirelessly send a 1080p (as a min) res image to the helmet at the high frame rates needed?

It's still too early for those devices to reach the masses, because right now they'll be a niche product like a racing wheel or an arcade stick.
