Read again. I said "pretending to straight". And with that I don't mean sleep with the next person of the opposite sex you see. Just not give any clues as to what sexuality you prescribe to. Which should be possible for any gay person. Like it is possible for me to pretend I'm a civilized person even though I'm really not.
That bolded statement contradicts itself.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
