Games That Were Suppose To Sell Very Well/Huge, But Failed to Do So? (Devs+Publishers Expectations, not Fans)

This thread is about expectations from publishers, not fans. And let's not forget that SMG2 was made the way it was because of the failure of the first Super Mario Galaxy.

And that's the cycle. SMGDLC was made in that way because the failure of the og SMG, later 3DWorld because SMGDLC and for the next years we are going to see new exciting ways to play 3D Mario's.

After the historical failure of Super Mario 3D World, Nintendo will learn that they have to do more ambituous games and not cheap ones like 3D World. Of course they will keep failing, but it will be in the same level of SMG, not as terrible as 3D World.

Hopefully they also learned their lesson with Donkey Kong.
