So if they are stockpiling the consoles they are sitting waiting to be bundled and boxed and shipped. This isn;t like a destiny situation where Sony can just pump out plain white consoles and sell any surplus as stand alone units. There's a bit more logistical complexity in making an actual limited edition console for global distribution. Still, I think Sony would be mad to produce anything less than 250K of these bad boys. They would possibly sell that many in the USA alone. Availability of the bundle in NZ is currently pretty decent, so maybe it is just an Amazon thing. Perhaps it's Amazon that is only doing piecemeal ordering. |
Would that have been your reaction prior to seeing the success of this bundle on Amazon? That's also what Sony had to do, test the market see what the demand is then produce the product based of that. Like someone else mentioned its not just a plaime colored console it has that Batman theme skin. If there was no demand for the system Sony would have to spend tons of money repurposing the consoles and @ 250k you mentioned I would venture to say it would be a very unnecessary cost.
