Why do people always insist on just comparing to DS?

From 1989-2007 (4th/5th/6th generations) the Gameboy line sold just about 200 million units of hardware and a little under 900 million units of software. That's about 65 million units of hardware and 300 million units of software per generation, pretty much right where 3DS is headed.

because the 3ds is the ds's successor, not the game boys.
