That was more of a set-top box than a game console. Sure it can play games, but Cry Engine seems like overkill for the indie-esque Amazon first party games we've seen for Fire TV so far. It seems like they might be planning an actual AAA capable console that can compete with Xbox One and PS4.

You don't enter a business to lose so yes they would only target the PS4 as their rival and not the paralympic athletes the X1 and the WiiU are.

Its hard to say - To be honest this market doesn't have place for 4 home consoles and it would be pretty hard to differenciate a 3rd platform going for the same audience as Playstation and Xbox.
One would need to drop out - Hint : it isn't the one going for 500 Million shipped consoles =)*
* Nintendo is doing its own thing.They aren't anywhere near competing for the same audience as the others.Obviously they would like to but they can't as long as they don't understand the rules of this game.

it actually didnt apply that at all. It was just stating that they were making one to compete with both of them. And yes it is competing actually. If a person wants an 8th gen console, they have to decide between wii u, xbox one, and ps4. that means that theyre competing for that persons favor. sony still views them as a threat and you know that. Thats proven by them admitting that xbox stole their sales this holiday season. and if amazon did make a console it would be 9th gen. And if xbox two is as strong as ps5 and they dont mess up like they did with x1, then you can bet that itll be much closer than this gen.
