Seeing as I was never really a shield user in the souls games I always played fairly offensively. The souls series just has more weapons and armor that allow you to tailor your playstyle a bit more to your liking.
But really they're all kind of the same game, just bloodborne takes an option away and replaces it with guns. They're all good
