Even though I am a fan of some of the other games more than Super Mario 64, I have to give credit where credit is due.

Super Mario 64 was one of the first major 2d franchises to go 3d, and unlike anything before it, the game revolutionized the way 3d games would be made from then on. To this day, Super Mario 64 controls better than most other 3d platformers (even more than Ape Escape which was my favorite PS1 platformer) of the time and, even more impressively, of today (aside from newer Mario titles which built off of it).

Just about every 3d game this side of FPS's does 3d like Super Mario 64.
