The 180:1 PS4 to Xbox One ratio is... umm breathtaking. There is just nothing that can be done at this point. Microsoft needs to pull out before it falls below 100 units a week and just use those resources elsewhere. It just seems irresponsible to even waste time in Japan.

It's easy to ship from China to Japan, it's literally on the way from China to the US. It makes no sense to pull out of the market. At this rate, they'll sell 15k per year, which I'd wager is a hell of a lot more then they do in a lot of European countries. Not to mention, if they pull out of the japanese market, they risk that Japanese devs completely shuns them. Like even worse then they do now. And that hurts both their perception because some xbox fans are bound to like japanese games.

Point taken.  I suppose one reason for staying would be the possible patforming fee they can charge on Japaneese software sold in the West.   It has to be worth more than the cost of shipping and storage and advertizing in Japan, which is probably minimal at this point.  And I'm sure that companies like Square Enix would not be too keen on distributing Tomb Raider on a console that made it impossible for the Japanese people to play.

The context of my earlier statement was purely business minded though.
