To each of his own opinion, you may not think Unchated was great but the general consensus such as press and fans alike would disagree, IMO i think there are much more positive things than negatives. But then again maybe your perception of "great" is different from mine since i think a great game typically has a score of 8 or higher. And the sotry was purposefully made to have a generic pulp action theme as stated many time by ND. But, as for the Gears and GRAW comparison... I'm sure you realize that Gears copied the cover system in Killzone: liberation which copied from Killswitch, which copied from MGS, which copied from Winback, which took the idea of cover (AKA stop and pop) from Space Invaders.... |
I realize that the idea of cover is old. I used Gears and GRAW because they're the most recent ones that did a very good job of implementing a cover system.
And yes, there are more positives than negatives in Uncharted. People are acting as if I hated the game... I didn't. After all, I just gave it 8/10. As for the story, well, I actually liked the story. It didn't try too hard and kept a fun vibe going. Then the zombie nazis started running all over my screen. That's the point where I rolled my eyes and just buckled down to finish the game. The fun was gone.
An 80% ranking is far from great IMO. It's a good game but let's not put it up there with the games that have really succeeded in changing our perception of gaming in recent years.
