Those things holding glow sticks are demons or something. Whatever they are, they aren't human. Whatever "fantasy world" they go to is a physical, organized place. Seeing as every battle takes place in a WWF/Boxing ring-like arena, the MCs are likely taking part in some sort of organized, televised, underworld tournament.
