Yeah, it'll be less about the graphics, and more about the delivery and control. The gap from the PS3 to the PS4 era indicates that we are at the point of diminishing returns.
Coincidentally, I'm reading Ready Player One right now. Kind of a similar theme, where gaming involves glasses that project the graphics directly to our retinas, and players wear haptic clothes.
