I'm not surprised that they are leading towards a sort of "X series + Y series = Z new thing." It lets them do something decidedly different and not lock themselves into one spot in the FE or SMT universes (which are quite diverse given how they work and how many SMT spinoffs there are). It will be interesting to see what we get out of this. I liked the glimpses of what I saw, but need to see more.
