You got it wrong, I'm expecting 8-10x performance boost as well, just as with this gen, that's pretty much what most people expect.

What I'm not expecting is that devs will use ~ 1.75x more of their total GPU budget compared to this gen just to make the games run at native 4k, and sacrifice visuals for that. Keeping things at anamorphic 4k, or even temporal 4k (similar to MP in Killzone) is, IMO, more reasonable solution for resolution bump, while keeping rest of the performance boost (same as with this gen) for improved visuals.

If jump in next gen is more like 14x, then native 4k is given, but that's higly unlikely to happen.

I mean 1080p is almost completely saturated at this point.  They are running out of the amount of detail they can show in 1080p.  I know you and others will jump in and say that "many games don't even run in 1080p on PS4!"  But the fact is that I just blaime that on lazy programing.  After all, every PS exclusive has 1080p so far and it's not like InFamous looks worse than BF4 (Quite the opposite).

The X1 is a different story, but I doubt MS will make an underpowered console again.

We're straying away a bit here, but I don't think we've saturated even 720p, let alone 1080p, not that it matters when it comes to this particular conversation.

People who know me around here know that everytime there's a talk about "reaching maximum", "diminishing returns" and similar subjects I always post this 5 years old 720p off-line CGI that looks better than anything we'll see in at least next 5 years in real time.
