I find this much harder than Dark Souls, took a break for a few days otherwise I know anger would get the best of me and would end up breaking something.

I'm finding this much easier than Dark Souls 1 tbh, as well as Demon's Souls and even Dark Souls 2. The higher speed lends more to my playstyle, and the dodge is more lenient than ever (both in terms of distance covered as well as invincibility frames). Healing is also faster than ever (this is a biggie since in Dark Souls 1, you wouldn't be running out of flasks, you'd often get killed while trying to pop one), and thus far I haven't needed to grind Blood Vials.

I started with the Axe and found it rather powerful, now I'm using Ludwig and I like how I can attack quickly with the regular sword form, or slow but powerful with the greatsword form (the R2 charge is great for enemies with a lot of HP, especially if you can get another hit with the greatsword in immediately after). I'm able to handle pretty much every enemy. Also if you just don't rush into a mob, and try to lure them 1-2 at a time, it's rather easy to progress. Also my experience from the other games definitely helps, as it's easier to identify surprises. That and I've learned to go back and level up really often.

One other note is that many enemies aren't that smart tbh. Often they'll just stay still, or not be too aggressive, which lets me handle them with some quick strikes or an R2.

Anyway...

I beat Witch of Hemwick, which was a good boss if not too difficult. Running around and try to get some hits in on her while dispatching the other enemies was fun to me.

I then moved on to Forbidden Woods, and woah this place has a lot of paths you can take. I had to do a lot of scouring and backtracking to make sure I'd picked up every item. Way towards the end, past the cannon guy and the big building seemed to be another area or two still part of the Woods, so I wonder how long to go before the boss.

One cool part of this place is that the random poison area past a cave (those snakes are really annoying :x Managed to pick up the items here too though.) has a huge ladder. I figured it was a shortcut, but didn't know where it would take me. Turns out it takes you right near the beginning of Central Yharnam where you began the game, and outside of Iosefka's Clinic! Then there's also another gate you can open that takes you on the rooftops and to the back entrance of the clinic, which then you open the previously closed door directly behind the starting lamp. Awesome.

Ya the witch was the 1st boss that I beat and thought oh, that it, its dead... okay. I was especting some further transformation or something.  I felt bosses 5-12 were easier than 2-4 (1 is only hard because you are still learning the timing of stuff, its cake once you get it). That said the mobs get much much harder after the Witch. I actually enjoyed that more, having to work my way to the boss, but the bosses while still presenting a challenge were not frusterating.

2 of the late game optional bosses are a pain in the arse, and I felt that the last boss(before final) was pretty tough. I was very overleveled (spent a few days in Chalice dungeons) at that point and it killed me once. Got it the 2nd time.

New game + is not hard at all if you are lvl 100+ (not hard to do really). I used the Scythe (made sure I farmed enough materials to upgrade it as soon as I started NG+ you only option if you dont have enough is to try and find them in d5 chalices...) and cleared the central yarnem with only going to Hunter's dream once (to grab my Schythe and upgrade it) Cleric beast took a little bit because his HP is pretty high but I only needed to heal 2 or 3 times. FG gets owned by the Schythe (the range on its charged R2 is insane and it not only stuns people but it tossess them away so they have no chance to counter) and beast phase was cake because I actually knew how to parry this time and I had not used the music box at all.

All said and done I had 500k echos from this run so I added a few more levels (put them all into skill because HP increase for enemies seems to be the biggest advancement they got). Also the enemies in NG+ dont progress as fast zone by zone as they do in NG. For instance it took 3 R1 attacks to kill the ax draggers (1st enemy you meet before the ladder) and it took 3 R1 + L2 to kill the lantern guys in the cathedral ward. In NG they had 3-4 times more HP than the early enemies and it seems like 10-15% at most in NG+).
