Dark Souls going multiplat was all on Sony, they didn't realize the importance of these games until it was too late.
Miyazaki has said he doesn't like making direct sequels, something most publishers frown upon. Sony is pretty cool with letting developers try out new IPs, so I'm pretty sure they'll just give Miyazaki money to make whatever he wants to next. Capcom on the other hand will want another Dark Souls sequel which will be left to B-team.

not direct sequels but all his games have been in roughly the same frame.  That's not a knock ND does it too now with action-adventure TPS.

That's normal, most developers are good at just certain genres and they just do that. And it's not just games it's the same with pretty much every art form be it music or movies, most musicians make one type of music and most directors make one type of movies.
I think a producer/publisher still deserves credit for allowing an artist to do what they actually want to do, so we get more inspired and passionate pieces of art. Cause most people with money try to force them to keep working on sequels cause it's safer, the reason bungie left MS was cause MS wouldn't allow them to work on a new IP for example.
