Not true.  Halo has always been on a 3 year cycle.  Gears has Went 2 to 3 years, so its hard to say either or, specially considering different developers.

EPIC Games - Gears of War - 2006
EPIC Games - Gears of War 2 - 2008
EPIC Games - Gears of War 3 - 2011
People Can Fly - Gears of War Judgement - 2013
Black Tusk Studios - Gears of War 4 - 2016/2017

Bungie - Halo - 2001
Bungie - Halo 2 - 2004
Bungie - Halo 3 -  2007
Bungie - Halo Reach - 2010
343i - Halo 4 - 2012
343i - Halo 5 - 2015

I must've only been following Gears timeline then. Makes sense.

Not only you got their timelines wrong but their success as well.

When Halo reached a trilogy(Halo 3), it was the epitome of the franchise and it's still being played today.

When Gears reached the third iteration, it's multiplayer was considered by the community as the best one to date. We're talking about the best entry in a series considered the best TPS.
