Gen 6. Reasons:
-Last gen of the old skool pre internet consoles (although they started it, it took another gen for the online platforms to mature and kick off)
-All 4 consoles had their own distinctive games
-Last gen genres were balanced out with the amount of games they got, with healthy amount of 3d platformers and rpgs
-great output from Japan
-Last time Nintendo took risks with their IPs and made diverse bigger budget games
-Also last gen with gameplay>graphics philosophy

I dunno most of today's games look like they came out of a factory made without passion, trying to hit as many "modern Western gaming concepts" checkboxes. Just looking at Ubisoft with the same AC reskin and same tired missions every year and applying their outmoded open world design to other titles like Watch Dogs and Far Cry.
