Because before then, playing outside was ALL you could do. The advent of videogaming marked alot of people.
And to be honest... there is nothing awesome about the internet that made gaming better. All it did was make the couch experience unpersonal.
7th gen isnt the best one by a long shot. The game quality is atrocious and the innovation nigh inexistant.
