Why are people defending Clarkson? He beat up a guy FFS...

Thank you.  Was about to say the same.  He should have been dropped years ago.   With the BBC putting up with his crap, he took that as permission to be an ass.   Had they dropped him long ago, he might have learned a lesson.  Instead, they empowered him.   BBC chose to keep an ass on staff and allow him to abuse staff members and guests all in the name of profit.  I thought BBC had more integrity than that.  Only now that it becomes a PR nightmare do they step in and take action.

Half the people tuning into the show did so because he was not only an ass, but a funny one that people enjoyed.

The people who kick up a fuss over the jokes he makes are neither people who watch top gear or have a sense of humor. These people seek out things to be offended by and their outrage made no difference to the Top Gear viewership, other than to possibly increase it.

Yes, he went to far this time, but he turned himself in and the guy he hit wanted to work it out so it could have been worked out amicably.

And while it is certainly a PR nightmare, that has only arisen as a result of fan outcry over Jeremy Clarkson being sacked.

He will move on to bigger and better things, the BBC will not.
