Starts of generations are always slow-ish, bar a few exceptions. You should wait a while.
I'll agree as far as saying the 8th Gen is 'underwhelming' so far and the onslaught of (pointless) remasters and Nintendo's not-so-revolutionary-as-we'd-hoped-for-titles are disappointing for now, but I'll wait a couple years more before I'll give my final verdict, given what I experienced in previous generations. There is potential still, and even WiiU should only be at about it's midpoint by now, but I'd like to see it.
Even though it had the Dreamcast, the 6th Gen was still overall the worst for me, discounting the era's PC games, the very first generation and putting the current on hold. This is considering only home-consoles though, the 3DS has been a great contender.
