The main character is a felon that spends each night of his time in prison dreaming of one of his many crimes and in each dream, you play as the victim of the crime, trying to escape from the murderous psychopath, and each night the felon blurs the lines between fantasy and reality, as hallucinations affect his ability to recall his actions as they actually happened.
