Considering how Nintendo is making a unified platform, they wouldn't even need to port the game from Nintendo's next handheld to their next home console. Obviously that is ideal, no matter how large the PS4's userbase is. Monster Hunter never really sold well on consoles, or at least as well as it does on handhelds. Look at the PS2 and Wii release sales versus. PSP and 3DS.
