If metacritic decided GOTY then Shadow of Mordor (84) and Dragon Age: Inquisition (89) would have lost Bayonetta 2 (91), but they didn't.

Well I think he is saying that the publications that give out awards, not actually Metacritic itself.  But it will be an interesting battle this year; lots of potential contenders.
