I'm suprised but also not actually suprised that a new Chrono Trigger game hasn't been made since the Psone, as Square have given similar treatment to a lot of their franchises and just allowed them to lie dormant. But that seems like one of those games that would just be a license to print money. You would get so many sales from the diehard fans, the people who are curious about the name "Chrono Trigger" and the reputation it holds and then many more if the game was actually good. If Ni No Kuni was commercially successful with 1.6 million units, I can't see how a 3rd Chrono Trigger game wouldn't be either.

I suspect that Square are afraid of doing this game as their two internal studios are committed to making Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts and they wouldn't want to give Chrono Trigger to a less talented studio like Tri-Ace, though freelancing Level-5 would probably go down pretty well.
