Just off the top of my head: Witcher 2 and Skyrim had godawful gameplay and combat. Dark Souls and Dragon's Dogma had muuuuuuch better gameplay.

2 games isn't enough to justify your cause. To say that western games nowadays aren't stylized, and hand hold is stupid.
