Their deal with Microsoft allowed them to own the IP.  Had the game been a lot more successful they would have been in a much better position than had they gone with Sony, ER or Activision and not owned the IP.  It's a risk that Crytek was willing to take and I don't understand how you can blame Microsoft since they heavily promoted the game and did what few publishers are willing to do.

What have I blamed MS for?
