I think that Nintendo exclusives + third party games stand a great chance against MS and Sony exclusives + third party games because of how much of a different experience Nintendo games offer from the other two. And not only that, the places where Nintendo does overlap with Sony, Nintendo does manage to outsell the Sony games by a notiable margin as well as out "score" them. The closet we have come to seeing how it might turn out would be the DS vs PsP or 3ds vs Vita because all of those handhelds had plenty of third party support and first party support but we all know that its a flawed comparison. I am not saying that it will outsell the next Sony console but I am saying that it will do far better than right now or even the GC days And yes, I agree that it won't be enough to hold Nintendo up by itself hence why I wanted them to do it from mid next gen, not right now. And the 3ds had its own sets of issues that prevented it from being a success. It was over priced at launch and it came with a gimmick that sacraficed performance for little in return. The fact that it sold so much should tell you what Nintendo IPs + some third party games are capable of considering how badly the vita failed... At least the 3ds has a respectable sales number and I doubt it will go dramatically down next gen provided they don't go with the gimmicky nonsense or if they do, make sure its not something this costly Well, thats the ipod classic but the rest are still there |
We both seem to want pretty much the same thing from Nintendo. For them to return to their no nonsense days. I want Nintendo to make the moves to get 40 million home consoles sold per gen that will be enough to support them with their business model
