If third parties can fill in the so called "Mature" Need, I don't think Nintendo really has to develop any. Third parties have plenty of "Mature" games and Nintendo exclusives sell a lot so if you combine to two, it should be fine
I think Nintendo handhelds will be fine for a few more generations cause of Nintendo IPs and their exclusive games and their deals with third parties like MH and Yokai Watch (ironic in a way). Its like how the ipod/itouch still exists even though there are plenty of phones for about the same price.
