This is what happens when people grow up in a society like ours. A society where people who struggle to catch up with the rest get extra help, extra protection, extra treatment and extra attention in general. All of which could have been used to further realize the potential of the higher performing individuals who are forced to settle with mediocrity as a result. The principle of "survival of the fittest" is thereby actively suppressed by the authorities, to the individual's oftentimes subconscious knowledge.

The many anarchic online platforms give those individuals a chance for revenge. Since there is no proof of who robbed them of their potential growth, they have to rely on the signs that are available to them. Such as people who fail to get a 1.5 K/D ratio (let alone 1.0, in which case may the bullies have mercy on your soul), people who don't EV train/IV breed their Pokémon, people who fail to mix up their playstyles in fighting games and people who don't respond well to verbal jabs and insults now that they lack protection from a supervisor.

Given how society doesn't exactly provide gifted individuals with the opportunity to trounce their lesser counterparts as nature dictates, this phenomenon is necessary to preserve balance. Add law and order to the internet and you may never know what will be their next method of venting their frustration until it is too late.

Is a 1.13 kill to deat ratio good enough to not get actively bullied online :(.
