It might make a little sense as a timed exclusive to raise the profile of a new phone by an otherwise obscure brand.
Windows phone would benefit a lot. It could send a message that windows phones has games.

I'd be pissed off as I currently have a 3ds a wii u and an iphone 6 plus and I'd need yet another phone to get Nintendo stuff.

Yeah, I could see it as maybe something a smaller company would want to do.

Really no need for the big ones though, they are gonna sell tonnes regardless so why bother adding an extra expense when it is barely going to make a difference.

But Apple and others have been fighting over exclusive games and Apple has been gaining time exclusivity for popular games like Plants vs Zombies and Cut the Rope.

"Apparently AppleGoogle and Amazon are engaged in a fierce battle for scoring exclusive games, which could convince certain smartphone and tablet buyers to switch sides in order to play a certain title."

“When people love a game, and it’s not available on an alternate platform, they’ll change platforms,” Kongregate head Emily Greer said.

“Apple doesn’t offer money for game exclusives, only marketing or promotional assistance, these people said.

I think Nintendo may be an exceptiom for Apple though if they're interested enough.
