Ah, this is sad. I was really hoping for a-la-carte options. Bundled packages are a major problem with TV, Sony should have taken a swing and forced a-la carte.

Bundled media is on deathwatch. Sony have basically given a time limit to their new business model, unless they are unwilling to unbundle down the line.

Yep.

Whats the point of replacing cable bundles with online bundles?  I said this the other day when talking about Apple and its new plans.

People happy with bundles stay where they are, people wanting a la carte wont want this.  So who is this and Apples offering for?

it's a lot more than price that turns me off to cable.  the biggest reason i cut out cable was the whole having to watch a show live thing.  i want my content on demand.  yeah yeah dvrs help for sure but comcast charges extra for that in my area at least and the larger the hard drive the large the cost and even the biggest one is still measured in 10s of hours and can't have programing conflicts.

sony is offering unlimited recording with no programing conflicts for 28 days. throw in no contracts and not doubling costs after the first 6 months and a "installation fee",..  that already fixes most of my problems with comcast.   still a bit expensive for my taste but also half-ish what cable costs in my area it's certainly competitive.

no no, this is fantastic in a lot of ways.  the obvious downfall is only being on playstation right now.  i mean that works for me as i already have a ps4 but that $400 is a lot of upfront cost for someone not interested in a ps4 for gaming.  sony needs this to come to roku and chromcast and whatever else for this to be a really compelling offer.
